Non-NHS work

There are occasions when you may require a service from your doctor which does not come within the terms of the NHS. Your doctor is, therefore, entitled to charge a fee for such a service.

Below is a list of the most commonly requested services and fees:

Certificate without examination

  • Simple signature – £18
  • More complex (requiring a review of medical records) – £30
  • Private sick note – £20
  • Private prescription for drugs not needed immediately by patients travelling abroad – £20
  • Passport form/photograph (simple signature) – £30
  • Holiday cancellation – £30
  • Fitness to travel/attend – £45
  • Driving license photograph – £18
  • Freedom from infection certificate – £45

Medical examinations and reports

  • Provident association claim form (BUPA/PPA) – £30
  • Sickness/accident insurance benefit claim form – £45
  • Sickness/accident short cert (signature only) – £18
  • Employers report only – £100
  • Employers report and opinion – £125
  • Employment (30 minutes) – £125

Access to records under data protection act

  • Access to medical records – £10

Travel abroad

  • Course of vaccinations (non NHS), plus cost of vaccine – £40
  • Private prescription for drugs for sole purpose of travel – £20
  • Professional association of diving instructors (PADI) – £50

Cost of vaccine plus £25 admin fee.

  • Yellow fever vaccination and certificate – £65
